Mathias Kiss closely examines conventions surrounding past and future habitats, 
his work constructed around timeless standards of stylistic excellence, uses skilled 
craftsmanship and contemporary experimentation.

His heritage, and his interior design culture, combined with an architectural interpretation of 
contemporary art, blur the boundaries between preconceptions and references creating cultural 
and social bridges joining decorative arts and contemporary art, bringing workers and artists 
face to face, producing works that are very difficult to classify.

In 1987 he began an apprenticeship as painter-glazier leading him to 
the Compagnons (guild of artisans), where 15 years working on historic monuments sustained
him and marked him artistically culminating in becoming his discipline. His early work focused 
on producing frescoed ceilings and panoramas, the wide scope embodied by the sky was 
a great source of inspiration. His first exhibition took place at Galerie Teisso in 2000.

In 2002, he teamed up with master craftsman and faithful companion Olivier Piel, to bring his 
studio and workshop Attilalou to fruition, creating a research hub through worksites, installations, 
design layouts and performances. At the same time, he regularly assisted in art schools.

In 2008, supported by a collector, he created and produced three prototypes Sans 90 degré, 
a work with no right angle in reaction to the rules and tyranny imposed when he set out, now 
presented by Galerie Armel Soyer. The "froissé" mirror won the Wallpaper Design Awards.
During spring 2013, he exhibited in Milano the installation "Blue Portor" upon invitation 
by Wallpaper magazine and through a solo show with the gallery in June at Miami/ Basel.

The 90°Golden Snake series reconciles him with an academism that he liberates 
enabling him to develop his work on the deformation of rigid materials. Installation GS#7 is
exhibited at the Robert Four gallery representing this piece.

In the FIAC off programme in October 2013, he presented an installation, LaKissRoom, 
an introspective bedroom open for 1,000 nights.

In Mars 2014, he exhibited the installation Half at PAD Paris.

From April to August, he is exhibiting Mercure, an installation produced by the group AIR for the Open Museum at the Museum of Fine Arts in Lille.

In April 2015 he exhibits in Bruxelles his new GS#7 installation, in May he features
a more conceptual gilding work Ornementation Brutaliste at the NextLevel gallery.

In Octobre, invited by the curator Laure Flammarion, he joins the collective exhibition Disparition, in December he creates an installation for the House of Boucheron for their place Vendôme Salon in Paris.
